A True Wonder of the World (Janine Nel) We were super excited to start planning for our next big 6 destination, namely the majestic Table Mountain. With that being said, planning your trip for Table Mountain is not an easy job, because the whole trip is dependent on the weather.
It's Important to Remember (Murray Walker) Robben Island is a sacred place. A marooned piece of land that has seen only the nastiest side of humanity. There really isn’t much to smile about when learning of its history as a place of banishment and separation. Which would explain the seriousness of all the tourists as we stepped off the brilliant Robben Island ferry Sikuhulukele.
Feeling on top of the world at the tip of Cape Point! (Janine Nel) A beautiful Cape Town morning, clear blue skies with only a light breeze to keep you cool, was how our Sunday morning to Cape of Good Hope National Park began. Take my advice and build in a lot of time for the journey to the park as you will be stopping a few times to take in the breathtaking scenery and to capture the beauty by taking some fantastic photos.
The grand finale at Groot Constantia Vineyards (Janine Nel) 'Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'it is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'' - Jack Handey
Wine fit for a King (Bernadette Hubbart) Groot Constantia is a wine farm with a history, starting over 300 years ago after Simon van der Stel, governor of the Cape at the time, was granted land by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in 1685. It is said that he named it Constantia after the daughter of van Goen, who had helped him with getting the land; others say it was named after the VOC ship, “Constantia”, anchored in Table Bay at the time.
